Full-time MBA application deadlines guide

It’s that time of year again—MBA application time. While fall 2022 may feel like a lifetime away, deadlines are fast approaching for applicants hoping to matriculate for the academic year beginning in late 2022 at their top-choice business school program.

Most business schools offer applicants multiple opportunities to submit applications throughout the year for the chance to earn a spot in its incoming class. But be warned—the rounds after the first one typically get more competitive as fewer seats in the upcoming class are available.

As of June 11, many traditional full-time MBA programs had announced the upcoming deadlines for their class of 2024 spots. Some have yet to release exact dates yet, but year after year, deadlines tend to follow the same pattern. Use the below as a resource as you’re mapping out your MBA application plans. Admission decision dates for some schools are included, too.

Harvard Business School

Harvard Business School offers two application rounds, as follows:

• Round 1 deadline: Sept. 8, 2021
• Round 2 deadline: Jan. 4, 2022
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 9, 2021
• Round 2 decision: March 30, 2022

Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania

Wharton has three application rounds, with the following schedule:

• Round 1 deadline: Sept. 8, 2021
• Round 2 deadline: Jan. 5, 2022
• Round 3 deadline: March 30, 2022
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 15, 2021
• Round 2 decision: March 23, 2022
• Round 3 decision: May 10, 2022

Stanford Graduate School of Business

Stanford has three deadlines for 2021-2022, with round 3 yet to be announced. Below are the deadlines for the first two rounds:

• Round 1 deadline: Sept. 9, 2021
• Round 2 deadline: Jan. 5, 2022
• Round 3 deadline: TBA
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 9, 2021
• Round 2 decision: March 31, 2022

Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University

Kellogg has three application deadlines for the upcoming year, as follows:

• Round 1 deadline: Sept. 15, 2021
• Round 2 deadline: Jan. 5, 2022
• Round 3 deadline: April 6, 2022
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 8, 2021
• Round 2 decision: March 23, 2022
• Round 3 decision: May 11, 2022 

University of Chicago Booth School of Business

The University of Chicago has announced the following dates for its three application rounds:

• Round 1 deadline: Sept. 23, 2021
• Round 2 deadline: Jan. 6, 2022
• Round 3 deadline: April 7, 2022
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 2, 2021
• Round 2 decision: March 24, 2022
• Round 3 decision: May 26, 2022

MIT Sloan School of Management

MIT has not yet released its 2021-2022 deadlines. Below are the deadlines from 2020-2021 for reference.

• Round 3 deadline: April 12, 2021
• Round 1 decision: Dec. 16, 2020

Columbia Business School

Columbia has announced the following dates for its MBA programs beginning in either August or January 2022:

• August 2022 entry early decision: Oct. 6, 2021
• August 2022 entry merit fellowship: Jan. 5, 2022
• August 2022 entry regular decision: April 8, 2022
• January 2022 entry regular decision: Oct. 6, 2021

Yale School of Management

Yale has not yet released its 2021-2022 deadlines. Below are the deadlines from 2020-2021 for reference.
